Absence

Sorry for my absence, I've been at a loss of what to write, and I've been extremely busy. Not like any one actually reads this thing any ways. But I don't know where to start with every thing I've been doing is the past week.

I sold my truck for some well needed cash. It was bitter sweet. I defiantly did not cry when the guy drove it out of the parking lot. I just hope he's going to do something good with it. I will miss that truck, I have a lot of very good memories with my dad in it.

I went to Coyote Gulch in Escalante from Friday morning to Saturday night for Bens' bachelor party.

Day 1: We were suppose to leave at 5:00 in the AM, but of coarse there are always people that ate late. so it was more like 5:30 when we hit the road. The drive down was pretty amazing, very scenic and it didn't seem very long for some reason. we get down to Escalante get gas, get some munchies, and get on the never ending dirt road. We were going about 40-50 MPH on this dirt road and it still took us about an hour and a half to get to where we start hiking. We unload the van and get started on our wondrous hike that 7 out of 12 people have never done and were not very prepared, me being one of them. First part of the hike was through burning hot sand, and slick rock. Then we got the the crack-in-the-wall where we had to lower our packs down a 50 foot cliff and then squeeze through a small crack in the wall to get down. Then we headed down this pretty steep sand dune of even hotter sand, and it was all down hill so my Chacos would just scoop up the sand and burn the shit out of my feet. Next time, I will pack socks... and then we get to much anticipated water to wash. We started hiking up the river for a couple hours, and we finally get to our camping spot. Which was pretty much the most amazing thing ever. Chairs carved into the sandstone, some even had cup holders where you could lay back and look at the stars. We set up camp, grabbed some Sailor Jerry and headed up the canyon some more to check out the scenery. It started to get dark and we decide to head back down for some dinner. We get down and crack open our cans of soup, best damn soup ever. Then of coarse we started hanging out having some drinks, Aaron packed his Washburn Rover down and we all gathered around and had a musical delight from Tim and Aaron. As the night progressed, things got kinda wild. Aaron got a bloody nose and started stumbling around a bunch of rocks and almost cracked his head open... 3 times. Then we buried him in the sand, we're such good people. Some other kid got buried as well. Then Sober Down stickers slapped on them. Then things started winding down, I went back to my sleeping bag ate another can of soup and went to bed.

Day 2: We woke up at 6:30, packed and headed out by 7:00. I didn't bring enough water, so I had to fill up some water bottles with some spring water (yum) and get some dirty river water and put some iodine tablets in it (not so yum). Instead of going out the rest of the canyon, we went back the way we came so we could have enough time for Calf Creek. But some some reason the hike down seemed super fast, we got the the bottom of the sand dune we hiked down the day before. Needless to say it was A LOT easier going down it than up. The sand was super hard to hike out of. For every step I took it seemed like I would slide back 5 inches. It was a very long part of the hike. We finally got back to the crack in the wall, every one was pretty much dead after that. We stopped for a short lunch and lifted the packs back up the cliff, and headed back through the crack and headed towards the van. The ride back to town was pretty fun, we rallied the shit outta that van! Once we got to town the lucky few got the last pieces of pizza from the gas station, yes I was one of them. It was surprisingly good pizza. We got everyone back in the van and headed to Calf Creek Falls. About 30 minutes later we get there, and no one really wants to do this hike. Everyone is just beat and has no energy left, but of course we do it anyways. The only thing really driving every one to make it to the end is the waterfall and ice cold water. We decided to walk it as fast as we could, even jogging at some points. It pretty much sucked but made the reward so much better. Once every one got there we got a group picture of every one jumping in, did I mention it was damn cold! We hang out for a couple minutes and then realize that we're super late so we head back down, get in the van and wait for the others to make their way down. Then we headed back home. I only slept for 30 minutes or so, but it was enough. Once I got home, I laid down for a couple minutes and I was asleep for the night.

Sunday we went to the mall, spent to much money. Went to a late lunch, spent to much money. Then we went to my in-laws, and Mandy made quite possibly the best meal ever. it was amazing. We came home, I finished the second season of Dexter and went to bed.
